Nazareth, PA - F.T. Silfies, Inc. has consolidated its existing Manchester (Manchester, MD) and Williamsport (Hagerstown, MD) based terminals into a single location in Manchester, thereby consolidating operation terminal resources to better serve the marketplace. 

 

While the operating activities will be centralized out of Manchester, the company will continue to have assets and a driver force located in the Hagerstown, MD area.

 

"This was a necessary step in our efforts to better service our customer base in Western Maryland and Washington Metro areas while also generating ongoing productivity improvements from the consolidation of the two terminals," said Einar Markussen, ROD. "The consolidation is the result of a comprehensive review of the company's operations projecting increased service capabilities going forward. This also gives us the flexibility to expand our resources to meet our future growth plans without tying up additional capital."

 

• Communications, including phones, mail and related matters will be forwarded and managed at the Manchester terminal.
• Specific operational activities like customer service, driver management, dispatching, safety/DOT, paperwork management will be transitioned to the Manchester terminal.
• Financial reporting will continue to report the Williamsport terminal as a stand alone entity and all revenue and expenses will continue to be managed this way.  

 

In addition, Rich Rollins, a current PRT driver in Aberdeen, MD, will be transitioned to assist in training and driver duties in the Hagerstown, MD area.
