FT Silfies Tractor featured in November 2006 Newport’s roadSTAR Magazine

Nazareth, PA – FT Silfies Inc., a regional mid Atlantic dry bulk carrier was honored by having one of it’s tractors, a 2007 Mack “Raw Hide” edition featured in November’s issue of Newport’s roadSTAR magazine.

Driver Mike van Blargan’s “Dressed to the Nines” is the first Rawhide day cab on the east coast.  Already coming with a lot of shine from the factory, Mike upped the shine, adding stainless steel around the grill, the headlights, windows and doors.  Extra lights on the roof, bumper and the back of the cab bring all the clusters to nine lights each.  The botton-and-tuck leather interior also features chrome bezeled gauges and Talladega seats.  Four fenders surround each individual tire combination and are just the right height to hide those large tires giving the tractor a lowered stance when the air bags are let go.

Macks rule at F. T. Silfies. Newest bulldog is this 2007 "Rawhide" model, the first one on the East Coast. Driver Mike van Blargan upped the shine, adding stainless around grille, headlights, windows and doors. Extra lights on roof, bumper and the back of the cab bring all clusters to nine lights each. The button-and-tucked interior features chrome-bezeled gauges and Talladega seats. This customized Mack pulls a bulk tanker transporting mostly cement and fly ash. Randy Sheeler, Silfies' president/CEO, says, "Mike's grandfather [Forrest T. Silfies, company founder], would have been very proud."

“It’s hard to believe that this tractor pulls a dry bulk trailer loaded with dry cement everyday,” according to Randy Sheeler, President & CEO of Silfies.  “It’s a dusty and dirty industry, but Mike is very particular about his tractor and a lot of the mills and customers we deliver to are very cautious when loading and unloading.  It’s a company tractor, however Mike has put thousands of dollars of his own money into this truck and it shows,” added Sheeler.

“We are very particular with what drivers add to these tractors and each driver must request permission on accessorial equipment because we don’t want to offend anyone with inappropriate stickers or jaws on the grills.  We’re a respectable company and our reputation is everything to us.  This tractor took first place in the tanker division at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals this year and we have it lined up for quite a few photo shoots before the winter arrives,” added Sheeler.
