Silfies Honors WW II Veterans with a New Theme Tractor

Nazareth, PA – F.T. Silfies Inc., a leading regional mid Atlantic dry bulk carrier adds another theme tractor honoring WW II Veterans.
“Several of the drivers and I were at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals and someone started talking about how great it would be to have a fighter plane on the hood of one of our tractors to honor the many veterans that fought for our freedom,” according to Randy Sheeler, President & CEO of Silfies. “I did some research and was intrigued with my findings on WW II, the Battle at Normandy, the Utah and Omaha Beach invasions, D Day and the American cemetery that has over 9000 American soldiers that lost their lives in WW II, many on June 6th, 1944. Additionally, someone very close and dear to me that I consider a WW II hero, Robert F. Roussey of Coatesville, PA, who served with the 82nd airborne as a paratrooper, inspired me to commemorate this tractor,” added Sheeler. I used to listen to his stories and think, “I can’t imagine the incredible price this man paid for the very freedom that many of us expect, not realizing that it was earned through his heroic and unselfish valor. Mr. Roussey lost an eye and was wounded in battle in Normandy and was one of the lucky ones, he made it home,” added Sheeler.
“This tractor is dedicated to our veterans who fought for the freedom that each of us enjoy each day. John Meduri, the driver of the tractor, has already been stopped on the highways with many questions as to the detail of the tractor and thanking him for representing a company that actually cares,” added Sheeler. “Our drivers are professionals and we want them to be comfortable and safe in our equipment, but we also want them to be proud of who they are, what they do and what they represent. We find that we are safer, more careful and people on the highways tend to respect our tractors a little more when they see some of the themes. John is very excited about this truck and what it represents to our veterans.
