F.T. Silfies Takes Delivery on New 2007 Tractors
(Nazareth, PA) F.T. Silfies, a mid-Atlantic regional dry bulk carrier has taken delivery on 15 new Mack CXN613 Visions that will be assigned to its new State College, PA terminal.
“We are very
excited to start replacing some of the equipment at State College in
such a quick time frame since acquiring Gensimore Trucking,” stated
Bruce Donovan, Silfies Vice President & General Manager. “We knew
the equipment we were purchasing as part of the asset sale would
need to be replaced and we’re fortunate that our owners, Quantum
Equity Partners, LLC, saw that same need. All of the tractors
purchased in the sale were Volvo sleepers and ranged from 1996 to
2000 models and while proficient, we wanted to focus on a lighter
tractor and use daycabs where we could,” added
“Our drivers are lining up at the door for these tractors,” stated Bradley Gensimore, Terminal Manager of the State College, PA terminal. “Recruiting efforts have been incredible since the word is out that we’re making the investment in new equipment. “Silfies likes to put a ‘theme’ tractor at each terminal to remind our drivers of the company goals, as well as the goals we have for each of our drivers. We were given the “Winning Finish” tractor with a checkered flag painted across the hood that goes from a regular black and white flag that changes colors as it goes across the hood. It ends in a black and yellow flag,” added Gensimore. This tractor reminds us that we want to be the absolute best carrier in the region and let our customers and competitors alike know that we are committed to our industry, to our drivers and our to delivery performance,” added Brad.
“Recruiting for Silfies has been an incredible experience so far,” according to Ken Wolford, a regional driver recruiter for the company. “Lime is a dusty and dirty business and often cleaning the equipment is the last thing on a companies mind when they know it will return to the same service the next day, however Silfies has made a commitment to do the best job we can to maintain our equipment in the highest quality and drivers really appreciate what they see. New recruits no longer have to get in a tractor that has dust and dirt in the cab as we have people that detail the inside of our equipment so the driver can go to work in a clean tractor,” added Wolford.
We’re doing it right here and the investment in new tractors means more revenue.
