F.T. Silfies announces new hires
Butler, Beech and Hynes (Nazareth, PA) F.T. Silfies Inc., a regional Mid-Atlantic dry bulk carrier has announced recent new hires.
Tom Butler has been hired as director of human resources and administration. Butler joins Silfies from Peco Energy and most recently, Reinsel & Company LLP, where he served in various human resources roles. Butler will focus on being a resource to management and employees for resolving workplace issues, overseeing healthcare enrollment, analyzing and forecasting work force trends, overseeing recruiting and retention strategies, and creating recognition and reward strategies. “We’re very excited to have someone of Tom’s caliber at Silfies,” according to Randy Sheeler, President & CEO. “As we grow, we need a focused concentration on structure and strategic planning and Tom definitely brings that and a very high level of excitement and motivation to our organization. Tom has worked for large and small companies like many of us at Silfies and we plan to take the great ideas that we’ve learned and structure Silfies into a great company with a focus on our employees and our valued drivers. We want to be the best and employ the best people and Tom will help us get there,” added Sheeler.
Additionally, Hank Beech has been hired as vice president of risk management. Beech comes from Goodman Tank Lines where he has been director of safety and compliance over the past four years. Previously, he served with the U.S. Army’s Transportation Corp. in Ft. Eustice, Va., Korea and the new Cumberland Army Depot and had over 20 years with Matlack holding various operations and safety positions. “Hank comes with a wealth of knowledge in dry bulk transportation and safety, personnel and DOT regulations. He will definitely allow us to formalize a stronger safety program and operate a much larger company,” added Sheeler.
Bill Hynes has been named the new Terminal Manager for Nazareth, PA. “Bill is a tremendous hire for us,” according to Jim Niness, Chief Operating Officer. “He is a driver advocate and a motivated leader which is what we need at our flagship terminal. Bill will be challenged with adding the necessary drivers for several new pieces of business that we added in the Lehigh Valley and will have one goal in mind….growth.” Bill joins us from Velocity Express where he was an Area Manager and was responsible for almost tripling the revenue over his 4 years there.
