F.T. Silfies Inc. Joins Pennsylvania Elite Transportation Risk Organization Trust
(Nazareth, PA) – F.T. Silfies, Inc., a leading regional Mid-Atlantic dry bulk carrier has joined the Pennsylvania Self-Insured Workers Compensation Group for Truckmen, known as PETRO.
The trust was started in 1995 by a group of trucking companies who wanted to take better control of their Workers Compensation exposures and operates as a self-insured group with emphasis on safety, loss prevention and claims management. “For the past 6 months, we have selectively overhauled all of Silfies back office administrative responsibilities and insurance programs leaving no stone unturned,” according to Kellie Heffley, Director of Risk Management.
“We’ve recently aligned our insurance programs with the bulk trucking insurance markets to include our liability coverages and our acceptance into the PETRO group was a great fit to allow us to discuss the exposures that we face in our industry with fellow trucking companies that face the same exposures. It allows the group to manage risks of a self insurance program by being selective with regard to membership, provide superior loss prevention, claims management, cost control excess insurance, long term stability, cost savings, competitive rates and above all, superior claims management” according to Heffley.
“Acceptance into the PETRO provides us with a great comfort level that we’re dealing with program administrators that deal with trucking versus the general insurance markets,” according to Randy Sheeler, President & CEO of F.T. Silfies Inc. “During our audit, we wanted to assure the group that we are a great addition to the PETRO and a great risk as far as our strengths as a bulk operator. We’re a very proud company that focuses on doing things right the first time and Kellie worked diligently shopping the worker’s compensation markets as well as researching the PETRO and we feel as though we found a great fit,” Sheeler added.
